"What's in a Bird?" wondered the French singer, Bashung... In Blaubird, there is Laure Slabiak and her deep voice that used to sing Mahler, Dowland or Schubert for many years. Now, she is singing songs of her strangeness, her thoughts and her emotions. In French, English, Yiddish (even a little bit of German and arabic in this next album) her songs and her mesmerizing voice lead us to vaporous and peaceful lands, at the confluence of traditional music, folk and electro. At her side, Olivier Slabiak (violinist, guitarist and leader of the band Les Yeux Noirs) composed the arrangements for strings and orchestra on this album and the recordings of the French musicians. Laure also worked with François Lalonde from Montréal (who was the director and percussionist on the singer's first 2 albums Lhasa de Sela) in order to offer us a warm, multiple album, with world, jazz and classical sounds... and always, quotes from films and collages of sounds and atmospheres that she is used to, and that illustrate so well her inner journey. On our shoulder, like a bird whispering secret spells in our ear, Blaubird sings for us with her deep voice bewitching melodies that sound like prayers.
